Messing with the phones…

Took a bit of a breather between entries. Not because I didn’t have anything to say, just no time to say it. Nothing new about that story. In my most recent post, I nattered on about how the paid public performances might go. With two weekends of them behind us, I’m delighted to say they are going splendidly! Packed houses all the way through, which is always fun.

No more unloading!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

It’s the morning of our first “Public Show” at Open Book in downtown Minneapolis, so I thought it would be a good time to add a blog entry before entering the next phase of performances. I think everyone in a TTT production gets excited about this part of our run, but maybe not for the reasons you’d suspect. Performing at Open Book or the Minnesota Opera Center, as we usually do, means that for three days in a row we don’t have to unload and load the van carrying our set! Really. It’s a lot more meaningful than it might sound. In this case, the set is mercifully minimal, and our Production Manager and Van Master, Nancy Waldoch, is already dropping hints that this small pod of actors  might replace the cast of Once On This Island in the category of  “Most Helpful Cast.”  TTT actors reading this blog shouldn’t worry that Nancy and I judge your furniture moving abilities behind your backs. We totally do, of course. But since you can’t do anything about it, you shouldn’t worry about it.

On the drive up to St. Cloud State Penitentiary, my stomach did a couple of somersaults. After so many TTT shows, I’ve become accustomed to going into a variety of correctional institutions without really thinking much about it. I just realized maybe that’s not such a great thing. Huh. My Doubts about Doubt

Monday, January 31st, 2011

The last TTT artist to hold the blogger’s pen was Maggie Chestovich during Life’s A Dream. And she did a KICKASS job. How am I supposed to follow that? When someone raises the bar that high, what’s the point? Really. But, I’ll do my best.

People who know me know I have no problem talking incessantly about TTT, but putting those thoughts down on paper in some sort of coherent manner might be stretching my communication skills. We’ll see. We’ve gotten two performances of Doubt under our belt now, both in women’s correctional facilities. Both experiences were fantastic! And so reassuring.
